Could the San Diego Padres be heading to Utah? And what about the fans? We took a non-scientific survey among some Utah Jazz game attendees to gauge their interest.
The responses were overwhelmingly positive. Longtime baseball fan Rene exclaimed, 'I think it will be great, I think it should happen, yeah!' Kendall, a Dodgers fan, expressed enthusiasm, 'At the end of the day, if they’re here in Utah, then we’ll be fans, right?' Jared and his family of five were also on board, saying, 'We’d go to baseball games.'
Sam and his family shared similar sentiments, 'We’d love it! That’d be awesome! Why? I love baseball and I wanna watch Major League Baseball here in Utah. I wanna have a team.' Kirsten added, 'I played softball, he played baseball, these kids are playing baseball. So we’d definitely be going to games!'
Even Cubs fans Tony and Nicole, who are transplants to Utah, were supportive, 'I think absolutely that our market could handle a professional baseball team and we’d love it! We love The Bees, we go to The Bees. And we’d love to go see some professional baseball, we have to drive to Colorado, Denver to see games now.'
Nicole echoed the sentiment, 'Totally, 100 percent yes! I love baseball games.' Troy, another baseball enthusiast, concluded, 'I think that would be awesome!'
While this survey is non-scientific and the Padres are unlikely to leave Southern California, the enthusiasm from Utah residents is clear. If the Padres were to relocate, Utah seems ready to embrace them with open arms.
