Manika Vishwakarma's Million-Dollar Answer to the Same Question as Sushmita Sen at Miss Universe 1994
Manika Vishwakarma, the 22-year-old Indian representative at the Miss Universe competition in Thailand, has captivated audiences with her intelligence and poise. On November 16, during the chain reaction question session, she was asked a question that had been posed to Sushmita Sen, the 1994 Miss Universe winner and actress. The question was, 'What, in your opinion, is the essence of being a woman?'
Manika Vishwakarma, drawing inspiration from Sushmita Sen's response, offered her own insightful perspective. She began by recalling Sen's answer from 1994, where an 18-year-old contestant from the Philippines defined womanhood as the ability to nurture life and everything around us.
Manika Vishwakarma agreed with Sen's words, emphasizing the profound truth in them. She elaborated on the concept, stating that women are often confined to specific societal roles, but she believes they should be viewed as individuals and humans first. She highlighted their nurturing abilities, their capacity to create and beautify life, and their potential to amplify the beauty of everything around them.
"Being a woman is about embracing and amplifying the beauty of everything around us," she concluded. "It's about being infinite." Manika Vishwakarma's response showcased her intelligence and her understanding of the multifaceted nature of womanhood.
Manika Vishwakarma, a Political Science and Economics student from Delhi, was crowned Miss Universe India 2025 in August. The 74th Miss Universe pageant will take place on November 21 at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand, where she will represent India.
