President Museveni's Vision: Industrial Park in Kyegegwa, Uganda (2026)

A bold promise sits at the center of this report: a new industrial hub is coming to Kyaka, with 10 square miles set aside in Kyaka to host a major industrial park that will include an avocado processing facility among its first factories. This development is pitched as a driver of job creation, value addition, and higher household incomes for residents of Kyegegwa District.

These remarks were delivered by President Museveni during a campaign rally at Wekomire Parish in Kyegegwa. He stressed that the people of Kyegegwa have been clear in their desire for industrialisation, and the government is prepared to respond with concrete action. The president underscored factories as a reliable engine of employment, noting that manufacturing already provides jobs for about 1.3 million Ugandans and can lift more households into the formal economy.

In outlining the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto for 2026–2031, Museveni highlighted seven major contributions the party has made over four decades, beginning with the restoration of peace. Kyaka was singled out as an area that deeply values peace, having long hosted refugees and endured insecurity during the liberation struggle.

On infrastructure, the president pointed to notable gains in roads and electricity. He explained that the country’s tarmac road network once terminated at Mityana, but the government has since rehabilitated existing routes and built new ones. Plans are in motion for a new road linking Kazo, Kabogore, Kyegegwa, and Kapuyo. He also noted that every sub-county in Kyegegwa is now connected to the national electricity grid.

Addressing service delivery gaps identified in the district’s fact sheet, Museveni acknowledged challenges in education, health, and water access. He noted that 41 parishes still lack a government primary school and that four new seed secondary schools are being constructed to reduce the number of sub-counties without a government secondary school.

In health, he observed that only nine of the district’s 19 sub-counties have functional health facilities, with upgrades and new HCIIIs planned for Kigambo, Migongwe, Migamba, Ruhangire, Bugogo, Kyatega, Hapuuyo, Kakabara, and Mpara.

On water access, Museveni expressed concern that only 256 of 677 villages currently have safe water sources. He promised that water from River Muzizi would be tapped to improve supply district-wide.

Additionally, he reaffirmed the NRM’s commitment to wealth creation, inviting residents to adopt the four-acre model. He cautioned against mismanagement of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, insisting that every beneficiary should receive the full Shs 1 million allocation.

The President was joined by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, NRM Western Region Vice Chairperson Jonard Asiimwe, and Kyegegwa District Chair Wilson Byabona, all complimenting Museveni’s development work and pledging strong support in the upcoming elections.
