A desperate plea for help has been issued by a well-known US news anchor, Savannah Guthrie, as she reaches out to anyone who might have information about her missing mother. In a heart-wrenching video message, Guthrie, a co-host of the popular Today show, appeals to the public for any leads on her mother's whereabouts.
"We are desperate for any sign that she is alive and safe. If you have her, please, we beg you to contact us," Guthrie emotionally states in the video posted on Instagram.
The 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31st, dropped off at her home near Tucson, Arizona, by family members after a dinner outing. Three days later, on February 3rd, she was reported missing, and investigators believe it was an abduction.
"It's a terrifying situation. We've heard rumors of a ransom note, but in this day and age, such things can be fabricated. We just need to know she's okay," Guthrie explains, joined by her brother and sister in the video.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirms that Nancy Guthrie's limited mobility and reliance on daily medication are major concerns. He believes she could not have left her home unassisted, and the case is being treated as a kidnapping.
"We are doing everything we can to find her and bring her home safely. Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial," Guthrie emphasizes.
And this is where it gets controversial... With no solid leads yet, the family is left wondering if the abductor is watching their every move, waiting for the right moment to make contact.
