The Seattle Seahawks have been a tale of two teams this season. So far, they've shown they can dominate with a 5-0 record in games where rookie offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue suits up. But when he's inactive, the team's fortunes seem to take a dramatic turn.
In the five games Cabeldue played, the Seahawks emerged victorious by 20 points or more, including a 44-13 blowout against the Saints and a 44-22 thrashing of the Cardinals. However, in the nine games he missed, the team struggled to replicate that success, failing to win by a significant margin and even losing three times.
This begs the question: is Cabeldue the secret weapon behind the Seahawks' success? But here's where it gets controversial...
In the recent game against the Colts, head coach Mike Macdonald chose to keep Cabeldue on the sideline, and the game indeed turned out to be a close affair. Was this a strategic decision, or a mere coincidence? The jury is still out on that one.
As for the rest of the team, Jalen Sundell's return from injury saw him reclaim the starting center role, much to the disappointment of fans who wanted to see Anthony Bradford benched. Brady Russell's increased involvement, following Eric Saubert's contract extension, is also worth noting.
On defense, Julian Love is gradually regaining his starting position, while rookie Rylie Mills made his NFL debut, albeit without any recorded stats. The special teams unit remains a consistent presence, with Brady Russell and Mike Morris leading the way.
Interestingly, the 2024 draft class members Christian Haynes, Tyrice Knight, and Nehemiah Pritchett have yet to make an impact outside of special teams, which may spark some debate among fans.
With the Seahawks now gearing up for a Thursday Night Football showdown against the Rams, the question remains: will Cabeldue's presence be the deciding factor?
